York Region District School Board is seeking submissions from qualified vendors for the supply of blind, low vision and deaf-blind equipment, training and repairs for Special Equipment Amount (SEA) claims and other requirements for the schools and students of York Region District School Board (YRDSB). Proponents must be able to meet the needs of the individuals and provide solutions. The successful proponent must have experience with the educational challenges faced by students who are blind, low vision and deaf-blind in the school setting. Students may have other needs to take into consideration. The successful proponent should be able to provide 90% of comprehensive support for Sight Enhancement (low vision) and Sight Substitution (Braille and alternate format) equipment requirements in one complete package including: consulting, demonstration/trials, total solution system designs, installations including on-site set-up, service and support, training. We will complete 15 claims per year but may increase depending on need. There are three parts to this bid: Supply and install new equipment, service on existing equipment and training on new and existing equipment. The Ministry of Education Special Equipment Amount (SEA) provides funding to school boards to assist with the The objective of this proposal is to establish a relationship with a Vendor(s) for blind, low vision and deaf-blind equipment and training on an as-required basis. This relationship will allow the Board to ensure that we are purchasing quality service at a competitive price, while improving management reporting and reducing material YRDSB submits approximately 10-15 SEA claims for students who are blind, low vision or deaf-blind per year but this number may vary depending on the year. This is an estimate only and should not be construed as a guarantee. During the 2017-2018 school year the Board spent approximately $297,000.00 on blind, low vision and deaf-blind equipment and training. This is an estimate only and should not be construed as a guarantee; rather it is shown to provide an indication of the potential of this Contract. The Board has successfully established internal departmental partnerships between Student Services, Information Technology Services, and Purchasing Services. The collaborative working relationships modeled by these departments ensure that the Board monitors and manages the return on their training investment. It is mandated by the Board, that all persons who are in direct contact with students, shall obtain a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC), as performed by local police authorities. Therefore, the successful vendor providing the training portion of this request must provide PVSC prior to entering our schools. Proponents are hereby invited to propose the lowest net prices, including all delivery charges for which the Proponent is prepared to furnish the goods and/or services requested herein, in accordance with the guidelines expressed in the enclosed document. |
