This Request for Supplier Pre-Qualification process is intended to solicit responses from Contractors interested in projects with York Region District School Board (YRDSB) who supply Paving and Concrete Contracting.

Note:  Contractors who have been previously pre-qualified or who are currently performing work for the Board must also respond to this request.  Contractors who do not participate in this pre-qualification process and who are not subsequently approved will be excluded from bid opportunities during the term of this pre-qualification.

The successful Applicant(s) will be entering into a pre-qualification term of a minimum of two years, with a third year, fourth year and fifth (final) year term that can be exercised at the option of the Board. Pre-qualification will ensure that successful firms will receive Requests for Tender, Requests for Quotation and Requests for Proposal for the period of November 1, 2020 to October 31, 2022. The term of pre-qualification may be extended by the Board for an additional one year term, November 1, 2022 to October 31, 2023. The term of pre-qualification may be extended by the Board for an additional one year term, November 1, 2023 to October 31, 2024, with an option to renew for a final one year term, November 1, 2024 to October 31, 2025.  The terms and conditions of each subsequent pre-qualification term would remain the same as for the initial period.  Please note: commencement date is an estimate only.  Actual dates may differ.

Note: In order to be invited to the upcoming Request for Proposal for small Ongoing Paving and Concrete Repairs for York Region District School Board, Paving and Concrete Contractors must be successful in this Pre-qualification.

Please note that the Board reserves the right to rotate the participation of all pre-qualifying Contractors for both small and large dollar bids based on capacity and capability of the Contractor.The Board reserves the right to determine how this rotation is managed.

Paving Contractors that pre-qualify for paving work but are not pre-qualified for the concrete category will be allowed to do concrete work using their own forces when it is part of a larger project that combines paving and concrete work that they have been awarded.

Your pre-qualified status will also ensure that your firm can be invited to quote on projects as a sub-trade to our General Contractors.  As it is Board practice to pre-qualify sub-contractors, your participation in responding to quotations from the Board’s pre-qualified General Contractors is expected.

Please be informed that mere pre-qualification will not impose any obligation on York Region District School Board to actually call upon any pre-qualified Contractor to perform a construction project or any other service.
